Interim Chief Executive Officer

Salary: c.£100,000

Contract: 12–18 months

An established professional membership organisation is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Executive Officer to provide confident, people-focused leadership and ensure the organisation continues to thrive.

This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong internal focus on strengthening organisational performance, embedding effective governance, and developing a high-performing, engaged team. Working closely with the Board, you will provide strategic leadership while ensuring the organisation continues to deliver excellent outcomes for its members.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide visible and inspirational leadership across the organisation.
  • Strengthen governance, ensuring best practice and effective Board engagement.
  • Drive organisational performance, accountability and operational excellence.
  • Lead, coach and develop senior leaders, bringing out the very best in people.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Ensure the organisation delivers against its strategic objectives.

About you:

  • Proven experience as a CEO, Interim CEO or equivalent executive leader.
  • Extensive experience within a membership organisation, professional body, trade association or similar membership-based environment is essential.
  • Strong understanding of governance and working with Boards and Trustees.
  • A track record of improving organisational performance and leading teams to achieve strategic objectives.
  • An authentic, collaborative leadership style with exceptional people management skills.
