Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to take overall responsibility for its finance function, providing strategic financial leadership alongside hands-on operational oversight.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established trade association and membership organisation, supporting a diverse range of commercial activities, events, partnerships and programmes.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead the organisation's financial management, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting and effective financial planning. You will work closely with senior management, departmental budget holders, the Finance Committee and Board, providing clear financial insight to support organisational strategy and decision-making.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the monthly financial close and production of management accounts, financial analysis and reporting.
- Developing and overseeing annual budgets, financial forecasts and longer-term financial planning.
- Managing cash flow, treasury, payroll, VAT and tax compliance.
- Overseeing balance sheet reconciliations, deferred income, prepayments and financial controls.
- Leading year-end processes, statutory accounts and external audit relationships.
- Preparing and presenting financial reports to the Finance Committee and Board.
- Providing commercial financial advice and business partnering to departmental leaders.
- Managing and developing the existing Finance Assistant, ensuring effective finance operations and processes.
- Supporting the financial implications of organisational growth and new business activities.
The ideal candidate will have:
A recognised professional accountancy qualification with substantial experience in a senior finance leadership position. Experience within a membership organisation, trade association, not-for-profit or charity would be highly desirable, alongside strong knowledge of Xero, budgeting, forecasting, financial governance and Board-level reporting.
The position offers flexibility, with consideration given to full-time, four-day-per-week or contractor arrangements. If full-time, it is required to go into the office 80% of days worked.
If you are a commercially minded finance leader who enjoys combining strategic influence with hands-on financial management, we would be pleased to hear from you.
