About the role
We’re working with the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) to recruit a commercially driven Head of Business Development.
This is a pivotal leadership role within a global professional membership organisation, responsible for driving revenue growth and shaping the commercial strategy across membership, partnerships, and a diverse product portfolio. You’ll sit as part of the senior team, leading a business development function and playing a key role in strengthening market position and expanding international reach.
Key responsibilities
- Define and deliver a global business development and revenue growth strategy
- Own and achieve revenue targets across multiple income streams (membership, partnerships, events, products)
- Build and manage a strong pipeline, driving new business and long-term growth
- Lead key accounts and develop high-value strategic partnerships
- Identify and launch new commercial products and opportunities
- Work closely with marketing to generate demand and support conversion
- Use CRM systems and data insights to track performance and optimise activity
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team
- Represent the organisation at industry events and global forums
About you
- Proven track record of delivering revenue growth in a membership, professional body, or B2B environment
- Strong experience across business development, partnerships, and commercial strategy
- Experience leading teams and operating at a senior level
- Commercially astute, with strong pipeline and forecasting capability
- Data-driven, with experience using CRM systems to inform decision-making
- Experience working in international markets is desirable
