Policy Advisor

As Policy Advisor you'll support and deliver the objectives of the Policy, Media & Education Team, playing a crucial role in providing informed guidance and expertise on environmental and circular economy sector policy matters. You'll also find yourself working closely with employers and government departments to shape and influence thoughts around future skills and workforce planning to ensure the UK is equipped to make lasting, positive change in the environment. 

Core aspects of the role will include researching, analysing and developing policies related to waste management, climate change and the circular economy, requiring you to keep informed of the latest trends and innovations in these sectors.

You'll also be our eyes and ears, developing and reporting sector insights to support the formulation of long-term strategies and plans for addressing policy issues, and providing expert guidance and support in the development of training products and services to eqip future work forces.

There'll be a strong aspect of stakeholder engagement with government officials, policymakers, educational institutions and industry leaders to allow you to gather insights and suggest policies that support the continued growth and strength of our sector, and to propose necessary changes in legislation or policy frameworks that contribute to achieving UK Net Zero and reflect employer needs.

From conducting research on emerging trends to analysing complex data and reports, this is an exciting opportunity for a skilled policy professional with an interest in the environment, sustainability or the circular economy to make a tangible difference.

Our next Policy Advisor will be have considerable experience of policy, research and data. You'll be proficient in analysing complex policies, understanding their implications, and assessing their effectiveness, so you'll need to be a critical thinker and a problem solver, with the ability to foresee potential outcomes of proposed policies and the ability to articulate these into comprehensible and comprehensive updates and reports for our stakeholders. 

This role will require a certain amount of gravitas as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences. You'll also be adept at conducting research, interpreting data, and using evidence-based insights, and of course, you'll be flexible in your approach, embracing of change, and rise to meet new challenges as they present themselves.
